Undefined Definition II – The Garden Isle

Following on from the work CINAMNESIA which draws parallels between the 24 vertebrae in the human spine and the 24 frames per second in 16mm film, Undefined Definition II – The Garden Isle is also a fictional work exploring the effects of film and the nervous system. Taking the notion of islands of memory as a framework to discuss spectatorship, the body and materiality, it is as if we are seeing an operation on time itself in film. With multiple non-linear scientific and surrealist narratives woven into a single channel cinematic work, the roles of characters in performance are questioned. Critically dissecting the process of editing, the politics of communication in story telling are examined. This “adventure” in Undefined Definition II – The Garden Isle is dedicated to the tactile history of experimental film.
